Find Out What You’re Truly After & Cut Out The Unnecessary

minimalism for teens

This video is about cutting out the unnecessary middlework.

I have seen many pieces of similar advice like the examples I use in this video from successful people including Tim Ferriss. The basic idea is to keep following the trains of “why” in your life. Keep asking yourself why you want to do something until you get to the final root cause.

An example would be: “Why do you want to get rich?” “Because I want to have the money to live the lifestyle I want which would include traveling through cities, exploring the world, seeing exotic places, experiencing new things, and meeting/dating amazing people.” “Well, why do you want to do this?” “Because it is fun and interesting obviously you idiot” “Well why do you think it is fun and interesting?” “Because it is more fun and interesting than the boring life I have now and life is too short to be wasted!!!” So in this kind of extreme example, the main goal is a fun lifestyle of travel and meeting/dating people while experiencing new things, which requires a certain amount of money. Becoming rich is simply an outlet for achieving that. It is the middle ground and some of it may be unnecessary. Why and how is it unnecessary? This is because if you read enough travel blogs, you will realize traveling does not cost millions of dollars and you can boil it down to a couple thousand dollars a month or less depending on what country you’re going to and if you’re willing to share a room, etc. Oftentimes, these activities that may seem less appealing than you think are in fact more fun. I highly encourage you check out some of these travel blogs because they blow away many myths preventing people from going places. This includes the fact that traveling is not as dangerous as you think it is. You won’t get raped or killed that easily (although it is possible – just stay away from dangerous or sketchy areas late at night and have common sense). Additionally, you can start being creative and resourceful and you may be able to date people and go to cool events/experiences for very cheap or for free. There are many cool events in cities that are free if you have an open mind. Many people are closed off to the possibility and unwilling to even consider it. They limit themselves out by coming in with their own assumptions. So long story short, you may be able to go straight to your goal without spending years busting your butt doing something you don’t enjoy to make the money. Additionally, making a lot of money often requires a lot of work and little free time. There are many millionaires who I have heard say that they were not engaged in their jobs or did not enjoy it any more.

Is it worth busting your butt and being miserable to make all that money a decade later and be too old to enjoy it or use it or to be so wrapped up in your occupation that you cannot escape?
