This was excerpted from reddit. Unfortunately, you may not understand it completely if you do not play League of Legends online. However, I think you will still get the general message.
I got into champ select ~11:10ish. In champ select, all 5 of us silently felt a strong bond with 4 other strangers over the Internet because we all knew we had no friends. Lol. So needless to say there were no trolls, afks, or flat out assholes. Anyway, we get in the game and it was one of those games that nobody got a kill for like 15 mins. It was a really close game the entire time after that. Back and forth turrets and dragon fights, it was a truly enjoyable and challenging game. Right around the 40 minute mark, I heard the T.V. say ‘And we’re 2 minutes away from the ball drop..’ and so I decided to suggest a ‘party’ in all chat. Everyone soon agreed and we met by baron. Nobody killed. Nobody tried to kill. We all stood there and waited, probably all watching the television for New Years. As soon as the clock hit 0, as if we were all thinking the exact same thing, there was 10 “Happy new year!”‘s in chat and we were all dancing. In the middle of a close game. 10 champions, 10 random strangers over the internet, battling for precious LP, started spamming Ctrl + 3. It was the coolest feeling I’ve ever had on League.
We went on to lose that game unfortunately, but it was still the best game I’ve ever played. Thanks to you other 9 who helped me have a great lonely New Year’s.
Happy New Year’s Summoners!
tldr: Played a ranked game when it turned 2015, all 10 of us crowded at baron and danced without touching each other, then went back to our game peacefully.
this is great. this is how the internet connects us. <3 Also, I bet the lost was spurred by the snowball that occurred when the opposing team proceeded to massacre you at baron
